Abstract : In the current situation, population of world is growing rapidly over time. Architects and engineers focus on the development
of tall buildings. However, increasing the height of the building is not easy. Several parameters play an important role in the
construction of tall building, including lateral loads. In modern tall buildings, lateral loads induced by wind or earthquake
which are often resisted by a system of coupled shear walls. But when the building increases in height, the stiffness of the
structure becomes more important and introduction of outrigger beams between the shear walls and external columns is often
used to provide sufficient lateral stiffness to the structure .The outrigger and is commonly used as one of the structural
system to effectively control the excessive drift due to lateral load, so that, during small or medium lateral load due to either
wind or earthquake load, the risk of structural and non-structural damage can be minimized. In this current work, three
different model of 40 storey 50 storey and 60 storey steel building with outrigger and in each model outrigger structure
placed at top and middle position of the steel building. The aims of study is to find out behavior of building on the basis of,
story drift, story displacement, stiffness, base shear and time period . For the analysis of these models, all the earthquake
loads are being calculated as per IS code 1893:2016, all significant parameters such as importance factor (I), response
reduction factor (R) are also taken from IS 1893 : 2016 and building structure is located in seismic Zone IV soil type 2. This
model’s parameter on the basis of Time period Storey Drift, storey Displacement, and storey Stiffness etc is being compared
using structural analysis Software ETABS.
