Abstract : Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the main agendas in the transformation of the construction industry in Malaysia. Several government projects have been constructed i n M a l a y s i a t h r o u g h t h e a d o p t i o n o f BIM since it was first introduced by Public Works Department (PWD). This paper conducted an analysis on the literature review to discussed the benefits of BIM in regard to building maintenance issues and challenges towards the adoption strategies. The findings of literature review have been critically analysed to develope the theoretical framework of this study. Apart from that, this paper may serve as a reference for critical studies in exploring the current practices in order to make recommendations to the existing building maintenance practices through the adoption of BIM among Local Authorities in Malaysia.
