Paper Title
Decorative Nanocomposite Paint as an Insulator for External Coatings of Buildings
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to produce nanocomposite coatings of nanoparticles and exterior paints used in the
building to reduce the surface warming and contribute to energy conservation. For this purpose, nanocomposite samples with
different percentages (1, 3 and 5%) were prepared by using clay nanoparticles and urethane resins. At first the nanoclay were
dispersed in polymeric matrix by ultrasound irradiation (20 to 30 minutes) and mechanical mixing (1 hour). Then the
samples were coated on a galvanized surface with a thickness of 30 microns. The gloss test for samples was done. Then, the
morphology of nanocomposite was studied by scanning electron microscopy. Thermal effect of the coatings was evaluated
by thermograph camera. The results showed that according to amount of nanoparticles in urethane matrix, the gloss and
surface thermal temperature of nanocomposites decreased.
