Paper Title
Effect of Syringe Needle on Concrete at Elevated Temperature
Abstract
Needle shafts are being dumped into concrete pits and are considered waste material. These needle shafts may be
used in concrete as steel fiber to enhance the properties of concrete. The incorporation of steel fiber improves compressive
strength as well as toughness and fracture also thermal resistance of concrete. Compressive strength and split tensile strength
tests are carried out on specimens at ambient and elevated temperatures. In this study, it is observed that the Compressive
strength of concrete increases when needle shafts are added. The compressive strength of concrete when needle shafts are
added increases even at elevated temperatures. The tensile strength of the concrete also increased when needle shafts are
added at ambient and elevated temperatures.
