Abstract : One of the most influential technology in this century is Nanotechnology due to its remarkable and successful results in various manifolds, Civil Engineering is one of them and to be more precise Construction Industry. Since it effect the material at atomic level so the properties get altered at microscopic level. With the actualization of Nanotechnology, it procreate materials desiring higher properties such as durability and strength then traditional materials. The main focus of Nanotechnology in concrete aims at production and mixing of nano-particles in concrete at appropriate proportions, which helps in gain in compressive as well as flexural strengths at early stage. Pore structure improvements can also be done by incorporating nanomaterials in concrete. Due to addition of nanomaterials in concrete the proportion of cement content get reduced without losing its strength characteristics than traditional concrete thus leads to production of eco friendly concrete referred as Green Concrete. This paper tries to highlight the usage of nanotechnology in civil engineering and various other materials viz. glass, wood, steel, its applications in concrete as well as its impacts on construction industry. Keywords - Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials, Carbon Nanotubes (CNT), Self Compacting Concrete (SCC), Nano sensors.
