Abstract : Ship speed and fuel consumption variations on different wind speed and directions are analyzed over two years.
Sailing speed, displacement, sailing time, and specific fuel consumption were obtained from Master noon reports of one
container vessel operating in west Africa. This paper aims to define sea. state influence on ship speed and fuel consumptions
based on statistical approach. The result is expected to help crew on vessel routing and fuel cost optimization.
